National Christians In Action SUMMER PROGRAM
The Summer Enrichment Program is filled to capacity with young boys and girls ages five (5) to seventeen (17) years of age. The eight week program involves helping students improve their skills for the upcoming school year with emphasis on building a positive attitude toward education and strong leadership.
The program provides tutoring, counseling, and mentoring in a warm, caring and lovable atmosphere. Our staff primary focus was on assisting participants in educational activities while helping them improve and build academic skills. Upon entrance into the program, each participant was evaluated at their assigned grade level. Adjustments were made according to their test results as to whether they could move on to the upcoming grade level work or improve their skills in their recent grade level.
Each participant maintained an individual portfolio of their daily activities in English, Math, Social Studies, Science, etc. Materials in participant’s portfolios were monitored at the end of each day by staff, resulting in a modification of assignments if needed. The portfolio served as an evaluation tool and as a means of tracking individual progress. NCIA used the 3-T Model (Train, Transform and Track) as a guide to monitor participant’s achievement.
